This day, formerly known as Empire Day, is a great way to celebrate the relationship between the United Kingdom and the member countries of the Commonwealth. In Canada, on this day the British flag is raised alongside the Canadian flag until the sun goes down. This day is also a day of observance, which means, that it is not considered a public holiday as such.
